Israel issues tender for building 42 new settler units

The latest tender is related to the construction of settler units in the Kyriat Arba settlement. This comes a day after Israel authorized the construction of hundreds of new units in settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem al-Quds. Tel Aviv says it will press ahead with more constructions in response to a series of deadly attacks against Jewish settlers. The international community as well as Israel’s close allies want it to stop expanding settlements on Palestinian land. Israeli settlements are seen as illegal and a major obstacle to peace negotiations with Palestinians, who consider the West Bank as part of their future independent state.
